If you are looking for a fair return on your investment, consider what a Dorset can do for you. Dorsets are a meat-type sheep with an excellent carcass. They are of moderate size and are fast and efficient growers on pasture or in feed lots.
Dorset ewes are excellent mothers, twin producers, heavy milkers, and lamb with relative ease. It is characteristic of the breed to produce lambs at any time of the year under good management. It is not uncommon for the ewes to raise two sets of lambs in one year.
When Dorset ewes are on a fall lambing schedule, the lambs go to market at an off season of the year when prices are generally better. Also, parasite control in lambs is at a minimum at this time of year.
This breed is available horned or polled.
